Appearances must be kept away from the public, but the tyranny of the majority should also be guarded against. Unbeknownst to its own citizens, this society is actually manipulated from behind the scenes by a secretive shadow council. Those who survive long enough to learn the game, however, tend to learn it well. Power struggles, backroom deals, and cloak and dagger scheming are par for the course.
The political system in this society is renowned for its intrigue. The Insurgency considers itself the rightful ruler of the galaxy, and will attempt to expand their empire by any means possible. The Martian Separatist Insurgency is a constitutional dictatorship an autocratic government where a single individual has been granted perpetual emergency powers to preserve the state from any and all threats, whether it would be real or imagined. Fueled by a fanatical hatred for aliens, the MSI sought out the blood of all aliens they came across. When the Energy Strike Wars came, the MSI saw this as an opportunity to wield absolute control over Earth and its colonies. Everyone was required, by law, to abide by the Constitution of Mankind without question. This was a rabidly xenophobic manifesto, as any alien is simply a threat to humanity as a whole.
